Neil Wells has kindly agreed to take up the appointment of Patron of KWHWT Inc.

KWHWT Inc. Boasts Greatest Support
April 2004

Thanks to all of our members who have supported this new group dedicated to the welfare of Kaimanawa horses. We now boast the largest membership of any group with Kaimanawa horses as their sole interest. You have demonstrated that the welfare of Kaimanawa horses is what is most important to the public of New Zealand above all other issues surrounding these horses.

Through your commitment, together we can make a significant difference to the lives of the horses in the wild and those in captivity. THANK YOU!

It was a strong turnout with 22 horses competing in in-hand & ridden events. There was also a lot of support from the public with many keen observers offering moral support from the sidelines. Those new to Kaimanawa horses were very impressed with the impeccable manners & amiable attitudes of the horses exhibited. Not to mention, their obvious good looks! It was also encouraging to see the large number of children competing these horses & providing the adults with some stiff competition!

See the Events Calendar for full results & information on the 2005 show!

October 2003

It would appear that DoC is revisiting the idea of the use of immunocontraception vaccine as an alternative to annual musters of Kaimanawa Wild horses to control the population.

Generous Donation in Memory of a Wonderful Lady
October 2003

It was with great sadness for the family of Florence Clay, when she passed away on 31st March 2003. She was a much loved mother and grandmother. Florence led a full life and when her daughters grew up and left home, she put her energy into participating in a number of sporting activities. She loved horses and enjoyed watching her grandson take part in shows and events.

The KWHWT Inc. would like to extend a very special thank you to her daughter Irene, who donated money from her mother's estate to help establish the Kaimanawa Wild Horse Welfare Trust Inc.

Scheduling our Annual Show for April Fool's Day may have seemed to be tempting ill fate but it certainly proved otherwise. The weather forecast was pretty grim and we were all set for a very soggy day but thankfully, the clouds parted and the weather was beautiful aside from a couple of showers that threatened to ruin some in-hand hats.

With over 30 horses entered and nearly all present and accounted for on the day, all classes were well supported and the competition was hot!
2007 KWHWT Inc. Annual Show Record Number Of Entries!

It was lovely to see a few new faces; both horse and human and the high standard of turn out. The effort that has gone into schooling horses was very evident this year and was reflected in the results.
