BEWARE: Make sure you're purchasing a "genuine" Kaimanawa horse that has either been mustered directly from the Kaimanawa ranges or has been bred from registered domesticated stock. There are currently three Societies who hold breed registers for Kaimanawa horses including KWHWT Inc.
Horses registered with any of these societies have had their origin verified and are automatically entitled to FREE registration with KWHWT Inc.
Wanted - Kaimanawa Filly, approx. 14.3hh or more. Her temperament has to be "bomb-proof" because she will be used primarily for pig hunting. I also intend to breed her with Kaimanawa Xact & Red Cherokee as I am interested in doing my little bit to help preserve the breed, therefore she will also need to be attractive & have excellent conformation. I barefoot trim my horses & practise natural horsemanship.

Can You Help? A friend has recently purchased a Kaimanawa & would like to know about it's background. It is a liver chestnut mare with a white star & approx. 13.1hh-13.2hh. The horse is branded 1K & it's brand is fairly high up on her shoulder blade - not on the usual tricep muscle area. The mare was bought from a property on the Morrinsville Road, Waikato & the new owner would like to know more about her history.

Holly is a full Kaimanawa mare, nearly 5 years old, bay with a blaze, I am pretty sure that she was born in captivity from a wild mare, she is branded but I am not sure if she is registered or not??
